In June, 2012 with the help of Cordon Media, the CRP had launched a brand new Calgary Metropolitan Plan (CMP). The CMP is essentially a plan for the Calgary Regional Partnership’s future. The Region is projected to grow to three million people by the year 2076, with an additional 700,000 jobs. The challenges of dealing with rapid, robust growth are more easily managed with the guidance of the Calgary Metropolitan Plan. This comprehensive Plan represents a road map to determine how and where this inevitable growth will take place. For the launch of this incredible new CMP, the Cordon team developed a brand new microsite, touch screen application and infographic poster display.
A year after the launch of the CMP Campaign the Calgary Regional Partnership team finally felt the need to transition this incredible tool into a tablet application. The touch screen installation was not always a convenient form of presenting information and the costs of transpoting the touchscreens was beginning to pile up. Furthermore, a tablet application would allow the CRP team to easily make presentations, travel to conferences and engage potential partners with the Calgary Metropolitan Application tucked away in their personal tablets. What’s more the Calgary Regional Partnership would finally have the opportunity to bring the Plan to the end user in an interactive, engaging and easily digestible manner.
The Cordon team put together an exciting and informative tablet application highlighting the efforts of the CRP with the Calgary Metropolitan Plan. The application features a tiled approach that allows the user to navigate through the application while learning about the Plan’s goals, projections and future impact on the Calgary Regional Partnership. Strategic use of visually captivating infographics allowed our team to translate complex data, usually hidden away in long confusing reports, into digestible content.
Our team’s challenge was to provide a visually immersive experience, while conveying the right amount of contentto keep the user interested and informed, but not overwhelmed. Each section features a series of interactive infographics showing information that is more suited to visual representation, such as development footprint and transportation planning. This allowed us to display complex ideas in a much more fun, interactive and manageable manner. Ultimately our focus was to illustrate the impact and projected future of the Calgary Regional Partnership with the Calgary Metropolitan plan, and bring this information to the people who they will most impact, in a way that is relevant and easily understood.
